Ranjeetha Reddy, RN, of 4 East is the third quarter DAISY Award winner.
Ranjeetha was nominated by several of her patients, who commented on her comforting and gentle nature. One patient in particular described her recent diagnosis of acute leukemia, and the struggles she faced in dealing with the reality of both the illness and the treatment.
“Ranjeetha is so amazingly comforting as she cares for you,” the patient wrote. “Her care and concern for every detail is extraordinary. She has taken the time to get to know me and how I respond to things. She anticipates my anxiousness and heads it off with encouragement I can trust. I feel so confident when she cares for me, and it allows me to remain positive with my treatments. My doctor is so pleased with my response to the chemotherapy, and I owe that to her. I wouldn’t have made it this far without her.”
Another patient praised Ranjeetha for providing far more than medical care.
“She has been right there beside me every step of the way, comforting me and reassuring me from the very first day,” the patient wrote. “In moments of deep distress, she sat with me, consoled me and helped ease away the fear. She is so very special in everything that she does, and I wish her only sweet success in life and my dearest blessings for her.”
In honor of her selection, Ranjeetha received a certificate of appreciation, a DAISY Award pin, a reserved parking spot, and a beautiful sculpture titled “A Healer’s Touch,” hand-carved by artists of the Shona tribe in Zimbabwe.
“Ranjeetha is a perfect example of genuine kindness and dedication that can make all the difference for a patient,” said Janet Leatherwood, Chief Nursing Officer. “The DAISY Award was created to honor the extraordinary acts of compassion and genuine relationships between nurses and patients, and Ranjeetha exemplifies those values every single day.”
