Beth Kennedy, RN, Birthing Center; Maria Rillera, RN, Main ICU; June Lute, RN, 5 West; and Elba Aceves, Housekeeper, 6 West, were recognized for their ongoing contributions to patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
Beth was honored for her willingness to help others, her ability to make patients and visitors feel special and her ongoing efforts to improve patient care through creativity and teamwork. “As a clinician, Beth has been instrumental in improving the care we give in the nursery,” wrote one coworker. “I watched Beth with other patients in the NICU and I know she treats all of her babies as if they are family,” wrote a new mom who benefited from Beth’s compassionate care.
Maria’s nomination highlighted her compassion and respect for others. “Maria is selfless,” a coworker wrote. “She always thinks of others. She interacts the same whether anyone is looking or not. She is kind to everyone she meets, no matter their job title.”
June was nominated by a patient who praised her willingness to go above and beyond to help him adjust to his care. “She took the time to sit at eye level and talk to me about my medications, test results and upcoming tests,” he wrote. “She explained things in an easy way and I felt comfortable in her presence. Not once did she make me feel like a burden.”
Elba was recognized for her cheerful nature with patients and visitors and her willingness to work hard. “You cannot miss Elba’s presence,” a coworker wrote. “She is always bubbly with a big smile on her face. All of the staff loves her. She perfectly represents the I CARE values not just to her coworkers but to all our patients and family members.”
