June 18, 2018: We have two ears and one mouth for a reason. One of the highest complements we can give another human being is to listen intently with genuine interest. One of the best tricks I know to help engage in active listening is to point my feet in the direction of the person talking. This helps me stay focused on the person speaking. Take time out to discuss with your unit/department three characteristics of an attentive listener. Post them on your unit and then acknowledge those who attentively listen this week by sending them a Bravo card or short email.
You can find the Bravo cards on your MARS Employee Self Service page under the Benefits tile.
