August 21, 2017: There is value in stepping back and evaluating our efforts when we complete something as enormous as the Magnet site visit. Many of you participated in a debrief survey and I want to share what we learned from your feedback.
- The majority of you said that the Magnet site visit was a positive experience.
- Teamwork was the overwhelming theme of your survey responses. You were proud of how everyone came together to showcase our excellence.
- You reported that you were surprised the appraisers were required to look at patient charts but you appreciated their positive feedback.
- Time seemed to be the greatest constraint you faced preparing for the Magnet site visit yet you pulled together and were able to accomplish what needed to be done as a team.
- The majority of you said that the provided tools and resources helped you prepare for the site visit and creating talking helped you organize your thoughts and the information you wanted to share with the appraisers.
- You shared that your discovered some strengths as you helped your team prepare:
- You are good at planning and motivating your teams
- You knew more than you thought you did
- You learned how to brag about what you are doing
- You are most proud of how everyone pulled together and took ownership.
- The Magnet site visit inspired many of the units/departments to explore not only evidence-based practice, but setting up research studies!
We look forward to hearing back from ANCC about our site visit results! More to come.
