April 24, 2017: I love this quote from Steve Tisch, “Any foundation you build, if trust is part of that foundation, whatever you are building, whatever you are creating is going to have a rock-solid foundation.”
The Professional Practice Model displays five foundations of professional practice: Shared Governance, Professional Development, Service & Quality, Practice Standards, and Financial Stewardship. These foundations support our practice and help everyone grow professionally. Each foundation requires trust to be a key and central ingredient in order to successfully support our practice. Leaders must trust staff when they turn over control and encourage and develop a shared governance environment. Staff must prove to be trustworthy and accountable for their practice. Patients and families trust us to continue to develop professionally and incorporate practice standards in order to be competent in our practice. Leadership trusts staff to be good financial stewards of our resources so that we can continue to serve our community.
How are you building trust with your team? How does trust impact your professional growth and development?
