April is Occupational Therapy Month and, this year the profession has turned 100 years old.
On March 15, 1917 in Clifton Springs, NY, six founding members of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) organized the profession that has now evolved into a science-driven, evidence-based profession with a goal of helping clients live to their maximum potential through focusing on the mind-body connection and purposeful activity.
“As we embark on our next 100 years, occupational therapy will continue to bring meaning to the everyday lives of people through the use of meaningful, necessary and familiar occupations that they want and need to do,” said AOTA President Amy J. Lamb
