Robyn Malone-Koch, Interim Imaging Director, received this letter from a recent MRI patient.
Great work John Joseph and Anita Williams!
[su_quote]This afternoon I had an MRI at your hospital. I am sending you this email regarding two of your employees who went above and beyond any expectation that I, or any patient, could ever expect. I was a little nervous and apprehensive about my MRI. I’ve had MRIs in the past, on my lumbar spine, and never had any issues with being in the machine. Probably because my head was normally out of the machine. Today’s MRI was of the brain, and C-spine. John Joseph was my MRI tech. After he put me in the machine I realized I was not going to be able to go through with the test easily, quite possibly not at all. He worked with me to calm my nerves and do whatever was needed. However, I was not an easy patient to please, when it came to putting me back in the machine. I actually came close to simply rescheduling for a later date, so I could bring my husband with me to hold my hand. The patience that John had with me was simply amazing. And I am sure I tested his patience quite well! John took the time to talk with me, explain every step and see how he could help. He then made a few phone calls, and was able to get another radiology employee to come sit with me, in hopes that would help me be able to go thru with the MRI. The tech that showed up is Anita. I want to let you know that Anita held my hand through the entire procedure, and I was able to successfully get my MRI completed! Anita was a godsend. A more perfect person could not have been sent to my rescue. The compassion and care that your staff members showed me is superior to any other facility I have ever been to. And, trust me, I’ve been to a lot! Please let these employees know that they made a difference in my life. And making a difference in someone’s life, no matter how small it may be, is actually a very big thing. It takes a special person to do what both of these two did for me today.
In addition to my apprehension, I had not stepped foot in your hospital since my son was a patient there, a couple of years ago. My son was a cancer patient and was admitted to your hospital several times throughout his treatment. His doctor (at MD Anderson across the highway) would admit my son to your facility when the need arose for any hospitalization. Unfortunately, my son lost his battle to cancer. So there are many triggers that I have, as his mother due to losing my son. Today was one of those days of difficulty for me when I walked through the doors of the main entrance.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email. And thank you for having such wonderful and caring team members. Please let them know how much it meant to me, and how grateful I am.
Sincerely,
Tammy [/su_quote]
