It is my pleasure to announce that Shayla White has been promoted to Manager of Patient Access Services, reporting to Marlene Borrero. Shayla has worked at HMSL as a project manager, spending most of the past six years supporting and leading patient progression. In her new role she will oversee bed management and facilitate patient throughput improvement initiatives. She will work closely with the operations administrators, formerly known as house supervisors, in managing admission processes at HMSL.
Shayla has become an expert in patient progression, having supported the hospital through a number of progression initiatives. In 2013, she partnered with the Huron Project Readiness consulting team to design and implement the patient progression rollout at HMSL. She helped further refine our progression processes in 2015 by supporting the design and implementation of Real Time Demand Capacity (RTDC) processes, which are still in practice today.
Shayla is a “second career” health care professional, initially working as a biomedical engineer with NASA from 2005 to 2010 before joining Houston Methodist as an administrative fellow in 2010.
Shayla has been an outstanding asset to the hospital and I am excited to see her transition into this new role. Please join me in congratulating Shayla on her promotion.
