Last week at the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, some incredible stats were shared about the great work our volunteers do for HMSL.
- Total volunteer hours for 2015 – 20,478 hours.
- Dollar value of volunteers in Texas is $26.66/hour. That means our volunteers had a total dollar value of $504,987 in 2015.
- 10 different faith groups are represented with the Spiritual Care volunteers.
- The volunteer program added volunteers to staff the Information Desk, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This helps increase customer satisfaction by lessening the wait time for those just needing information and not registration.
- A new program, Team Clarity, was implemented. The program provides elderly patient visitation and engagement. More specifically, volunteers provide information to patients and families to prevent delirium, engage with patients and families to increase spirits and mood, provide sensory items for a comfortable stay (hearing amplifiers, reading glasses and puzzle book), and provide information to senior community resources and agencies.
Volunteers take on many important roles every day that help advance our organization. They provide additional services in our patient care units and minister to patients through our Spiritual Care Department. Volunteers are a vital part of the health care team at HMSL.
