NOVEMBER 3, 2022 — For more than two years, our community was negatively impacted by COVID-19. The pandemic caused worse-than-usual food insecurity and a myriad of financial issues for our friends and neighbors. Just as it appeared that we’d seen the worst of COVID-19, we were hit with rising inflation and even faster-rising food and housing costs. Houstonians are blessed to have an organization that helps those in need get through these types of hardships and supports more than 100 agencies that care for those impacted by tough times – The United Way of Greater Houston.
I’m excited to announce that today we’re launching our 2022 United Way Campaign. This year, our goal is $300,000. The theme of this year’s campaign is: Our Community, Our Action, Our Commitment. Last year, the United Way of Greater Houston positively impacted more than 2 million Houstonians’ lives through its many initiatives and programs. That means that roughly two in every seven people in our region benefited directly from the United Way of Greater Houston. I encourage you to spend a few minutes learning more about the organization and the many agencies it supports.
Join Houston Methodist’s campaign by committing to donate at least $1 per paycheck through payroll deductions. Click here to schedule a payroll deduction through MARS. You can also use your smartphone to make a donation. If you live in Houston, text HMGIVES to 51555. Personalize your donation by designating which agency receives it.
This year’s campaign runs through Nov. 15, but you’ll have until the end of December to make your gift. I take great pride in serving as a trustee for the United Way, and I get to see firsthand the amazing work the organization does in our community. I hope you’ll join me this year and help United Way of Greater Houston continue to positively impact Houstonians in need.
