The message below first appeared as an email on April 12, 2023 on behalf of Janet Leatherwood – Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer.
I am proud to share some exciting news about several of our nurses here at Houston Methodist Sugar Land. Nine of our nurses are being recognized as the best in Houston on Houston Chronicle’s 2023 ‘Salute to Nurses’ list. Not only did we have nine nurses make the annual list, but two of them are Top 15 winners. Those being honored are:
Christine Reid
Maria Cuesta (Top 15)
Betty Gonzales
Gilbert Barrera
Janet Leatherwood
Jennifer Sy
Joy Yuan Fey (Top 15)
Heather Rodriguez
Marieta Rasco
Every year, the Houston Chronicle celebrates the nursing profession and the crucial role it plays in health care. Hundreds of nurses are nominated by their peers, patients and administration. Then a panel of educators, professionals and leaders in the field recognize the most dedicated. The Overall Top 200 Outstanding Nurses will be listed in the Salute to Nurses section of the Houston Chronicle on Sunday, May 7th, 2023. The recognition coincides with National Nurses Week, May 6-12.
Please join me in congratulating Christine, Maria, Betty, Gilbert, Jennifer, Joy, Heather and Marieta. It’s my honor to be recognized alongside you all. These nurses represent a small fraction of the amazing nurses at HMSL. Thank you all for your commitment to our patients and our profession.
Janet Leatherwood, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
