As Dr. Phillips stated in his email last week, we are seeing higher numbers of COVID-19 hospitalizations in our hospital.
I am confident that Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is prepared to handle the increased number of patients while maintaining full operations. The first onset of cases gave us the opportunity to learn more about the virus and effective treatment options.
In order to continue operating a fully operational diagnostic testing and procedural schedule, we must function as efficiently as possible in managing inpatients’ length of stay. This is even more critical given the governor’s mandate to reserve 15% of our capacity for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
It is important that we continue to use proper PPE to not only protect ourselves, but our patients, family and community. Please refer to this clinical resource guide for guidance on PPE usage.
The safety measures we’ve taken including thoroughly cleaning all rooms, equipment and surfaces in common areas and isolating suspected COVID-19 patients in dedicated areas are still in place.
We are still requiring everyone who comes to the hospital to wear a mask properly as well as practice social distancing measures.
All of your contributions over the past few months are greatly appreciated. Everyone should be proud of the efforts taken to remain the safe, unparalleled hospital that we are.
