Cloth Mask Guidelines

Over the past few weeks, you should have received some reusable facemasks from your manager. We wanted to provide some guidelines and let you know how to properly care for them.

Blue Logo Reusable Masks

These masks can be washed up to 30 times prior to losing antimicrobial properties, but can still be worn as a cloth mask.

White Reusable Masks

These masks can be washed up to 15 times prior to losing antimicrobial properties, but can still be worn as a cloth mask. Do not use bleach, chemicals or disinfectants to wash this mask.

Washing Instructions

Follow these CDC guidelines on how to properly wash and dry your cloth masks.

Masks with Valves

We have noticed a growing number of employees and visitors wearing masks with breathing valves. Although these might be more comfortable, they are not always effective in protecting the wearer of the mask or others. The wearer is exhaling unfiltered air and if the wearer is infected, viral particles are exhaled through the valves and putting others at risk. The wearer could also be at risk if the valves fail and unfiltered contaminated air is inhaled. Because of this, starting Aug. 10 we are not allowing our employees, physicians and visitors to wear these masks. If a visitor enters our hospitals wearing one, they should be given an ear loop mask.
