We’ll be transitioning from phase one of our 4 Main Pavilion renovations to phase two. Beginning May 25, staff wanting to access 4 West will need to use the Brazos 4 staff elevators.
What is being renovated?
We’re updating the finishes on level 4 and 5 in the Main Pavilion. Finishes being updated include – flooring, lights, refurbished headwalls, deep cleaning and re seal of bathroom tile, patient rooms to be decked out with the hospital standard roller shades, sofas re-upholstered, paint for all rooms and corridors.
What’s next?
This renovation is going to be done in six phases. The first three phases are on 4 West while the remaining three will be conducted on 4 East starting late July or early August. We will keep you updated on any changes.

are we finally stripping the yucky carpets? Doesn’t it seem so unsanitary in a hospital?

We are replacing the carpet with the new standard carpet installed in the Brazos tower. However, this carpet is not like what people see installed in their houses. The material is infection prevention friendly and is welded together to form impermeable seams, similar to the woodgrain flooring used inside the patient rooms. This barrier keeps liquids on top of the carpet preventing mold and fungus from growing. Cleaning methods for this specially bonded material is similar to what you see used on other flooring seen throughout our hospital.
