ERG Hosts Juneteenth Celebration
In recognition of Juneteenth, the Black Ties For Culture employee resource group (ERG) hosts an in-person and virtual celebration on Monday, June 19 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The holiday commemorates the date in 1865 when enslaved persons in Texas were freed, two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The in-person celebration will be held in the HMRI Bookout Auditorium, while it will also be available via Zoom. Celebrating Pride Month
Join the LGBTQ+ Allies ERG on Thursday, June 22 in-person in the Crain Garden or via Livestream for the 3rd Annual Pride Celebration. The event will feature remarks by Houston Methodist President and CEO Dr. Marc Boom, a musical performance by Houston singer Theron Early and information on a variety of community resources and is also part of the Center for Performing Arts Medicine’s (CPAM) Margaret Alkek Williams Crain Garden Performance Series. Pride Month Lighting Ceremony Transforms OPC
Members of the LGBTQ+Allies ERG welcomed staff to the Horizon’s Hope Garden on June 1 when the usual blue color of the Houston Methodist OPC building was transformed to alternating colors of the rainbow in recognition of Pride Month. The event was also Livestreamed.
DEI Learning Sessions Offer CME and Ethics Accreditation
The current learning sessions offered by the Office of DEI—Together We Grow, Managing Unconscious Bias, Navigating Multigenerational Teams and Recognizing the Impact of Microaggressions—offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ and ethics credit per attended sessions.
The learnings help to further your knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion topics that can enhance relationships with co-workers, patients and guests. Sessions are available virtually or in-person.
