Military Appreciation Month Reflection
Established in 1999, May’s designation as Military Appreciation Month recognizes the service and sacrifice of the men and women of America’s Armed Forces. Cesar Argueta, HM senior security analyst and chair of the Veterans Alliance employee resource group (ERG), shares what the month means to him.
“As a Marine Corps veteran, May is a special month to me because the love and respect America has for our service members, their families and our country is on full display. It brings me joy to see our country backing our fearless men and women who signed up to defend our freedom without hesitation.
“Although the entire month of May is dedicated to honoring past and present military members and their families, there are several military-related holidays sprinkled throughout Military Appreciation Month, including Loyalty Day, VE Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day.
“Every day, America’s service members selflessly put their lives on the line at a moment’s notice to keep us safe and free and defend the interests and security of the nation. Please take a moment to let our troops and veterans know how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice.”
