Continue your personal journey of discovery and development by registering for newly CME-accredited DEI trainings: Recognizing the Impact of Microaggressions, Managing Unconscious Bias and Navigating Multigenerational Teams.
The trainings developed and led by the Office of DEI training team help to further your knowledge and understanding of important diversity, equity and inclusion topics. The informal, non-judgmental sessions—available virtually and in-person—will help you gain awareness and insight that can enhance relationships with co-workers, patients and guests. Native American Heritage Month Recognition
The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is reaching out to Houston Methodist staff members interested in providing personal insight and comments in an upcoming edition of the DEI Corner on the significance of November’s designation as Native American Heritage Month. In addition, as we develop plans to honor the achievements and contributions of Native Americans, we are seeking input on culturally appropriate activities to engage fellow staff members in celebrating this month. Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Video Available
Thanks to everyone who attended the Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Celebration on September 16. Hosted in the Crain Garden by the Hispanic LatinX Alliance ERG, the celebration included guest speaker Beto Najera of Univision Houston, musical performances and a curated art exhibit hosted by MECA Houston. October is a significant month for our Hindu colleagues, with several observances taking place, starting with Dussehra (Oct. 4) and culminating with Diwali (October 24), one of the largest celebrations on the Hindu calendar. Click here for more information on the upcoming celebrations.
DEI Glossary in DEI Toolkit
A “Glossary of Important DEI Terms” is now available in the DEI Toolkit. The glossary provides definitions of more than 100 terms and is intended to provide clarity and context to help encourage the conversation around DEI topics.
