Houston Methodist announced that it has awarded nearly $2.5 million in community grant investment to 37 Houston-area nonprofit organizations. The Houston Methodist Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Grant Program will support community initiatives focused on addressing the social determinants of health that lead to health inequities within racial, ethnic and social minorities.
Why it’s important
As part of its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Houston Methodist created the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Grant program in 2020, which includes both DEI Grants and Social Equity Grants. Funding for these grants comes from a $25 million fund established by Houston Methodist to be administered over five years to support underserved communities and their efforts to foster healthy neighborhoods, improve educational access and opportunities, and to cultivate employment and economic opportunities.
