I am pleased to announce that today we implemented a systemwide launch of Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Education, also known as Krames, a new patient education tool.
FHIR Education is located within Epic and provides patients with education, discharge instructions and summaries and after visit summaries seamlessly through MyChart.
With the most up-to-date patient education in a printable format as well as in MyChart and on their smart devices, patients have the assurance of a point of reference guide upon returning home. Materials can also be customized to a patient’s learning needs, including videos and resources in Spanish and up to 20 additional foreign languages.
Many thanks to the System Education Council, Dr. Nick Desai, and the operational and technical teams that brought this tool to fruition.
