Focal Point Review (FPR) kicked off Tuesday, May 28. You will need to complete your self-evaluation, annual in-services and tuberculosis screening.
New hires who started on or after March 31, 2019 are compliant with their in-services and do not need to retake them. A new TB test is not required for employees who received TB screening to include either a TB skin test, TB blood test and/or a TB symptom questionnaire on or after March 31, 2019.
You may check your compliance dates in MARS in the Compliance tile. New hires who participated in new employee orientation before March 31, 2019 must repeat the TB testing process.
Remember that the Focal Point Review process is required for all Houston Methodist staff employees. If you do not comply with your TB screening and complete your in-services by the required deadlines, you will be suspended without pay as a disciplinary action. Click HERE to see the policy HR07 for further details of disciplinary action for not completing these requirements.
What do I have to do?
Complete your annual in-services.
- Log on to MARS on or after May 28 and choose the LMS Success Factors tile to find your in-services. There are 12 in-services to complete this year, and completing them will take from two to three hours. Your in-services must be completed by Aug. 28. If you are a new employee who started on or after April 1, you don’t have to repeat the in-services until 2020.
Complete TB screening.
- We provide annual TB testing to protect employees and to protect our patients. All Houston Methodist employees, including those who do not have direct patient care responsibilities, are required to participate in TB testing.
- To meet the Aug. 28 deadline, the last day to get a skin test placed will be Aug. 26, 2019. The last day to get a blood test is Aug. 21, 2019. Click HERE for frequently asked questions about the TB program.
- Note: Schedules for the TB testing at each site will be posted on Friday, May 24, at myhr.houstonmethodist.org. The first two to three weeks of the TB screening cycle are very busy, so anticipate longer wait times.
Evaluate yourself.
- Part of the FPR process is the opportunity to evaluate your own performance. Self-evaluations become available Monday, June 3, and must be completed by Friday, July 12.
Sit down with your manager for an evaluation.
Give peer feedback (RNs only).
- Complete your peer feedback by Nov. 15.
Acknowledge your evaluation in MARS.
- We’ll give you more information about when and how to do that in September.
