NOVEMBER 18, 2022 — Congratulations to Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, which was designated a Magnet hospital by the American Nursing Credentialing Center earlier today. This is a tremendous honor as less than 10% of hospitals in the United States earn this designation. With this designation, and Houston Methodist Clear Lake’s Magnet recognition earlier this summer, Houston Methodist is now one of only a few systems in the country with every one of its acute care hospitals achieving Magnet status. I could not be prouder!
Why is this important? Magnet hospitals have better patient outcomes and patient satisfaction scores. This designation also helps hospitals recruit and retain the best nurses as well as other health care professionals because these hospitals provide the highest standards of care and nursing excellence. Our nurses are a key backbone of our organization, and this prestigious recognition is a testament to the unparalleled care they provide our patients every day.
Our magnet journey started with Houston Methodist Hospital getting designated initially in 2002. Since then, our long-term goal has been to have all of our hospitals be designated Magnet – and now we have done it! Houston Methodist Clear Lake, which joined our system in 2014, and Houston Methodist The Woodlands, which opened in 2017, both accomplished this in record time. There are few better ways to show our community, and the nation, that we are leading medicine.
A special congratulations to Debbie Sukin, regional senior vice president and CEO; Kerrie Guerrero, vice president and CNO; Sarah Fleming, associate CNO; and the entire nursing staff at HMTW on this accomplishment. And, thank you to all our nursing teams throughout our system for your hard work and dedication to our patients. You set an example for all of us and I am grateful for all that you do!
