Houston Methodist Employees Can Donate to Support Turkey and Syria

FEBRUARY 8, 2023 — The world continues to watch the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that has upended lives in Turkey and Syria and taken the lives of 35,000 people. This crisis has left many without food and shelter while they continue to search for loved ones. As Houston Methodist is committed to helping those most in need beyond our hospitals walls, we invite employees to stand with the people of Turkey and Syria through their journey to recovery. One way to do this is to donate to organizations with a mission to assist those who are displaced, suffering from injuries and/or grieving loved ones as a result of earthquake. Show your support by contributing to any of the organizations listed below that are working tirelessly to help those on ground in Turkey and Syria. For questions about the donation pages, please contact the Office of Community Benefits via email at communitybenefits@houstonmethodist.org.

  • Turkish Red Crescent is a part of the International Federation which is a coalition of individual Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies that coordinates humanitarian relief efforts throughout the world.
  • Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a global medical relief organization that works on the front lines of crisis relief to save lives. Their efforts are focused on providing acute medical care to those in need in Syria.
  • UNICEF is ensuring that the people of Turkey and Syria are safe by providing food, water, sanitation and reunification of displaced children with their families.
  • Global Food Network advances and unites food banks to nourish the hungry across the world. Donations to the organization with support Tider which is a network of more than 60 locally led food banks in Turkey.
