Six employees were honored recently as I CARE award winners for spring 2017.
Joe Thekkanath, MRI Tech & MRI Safety Officer (MRSO), was nominated for his expertise and dedication to MRI safety, as well as his calm and compassionate nature with patients. “Last year, Joe received a Houston Methodist Quality & Patient Safety award and his MRSO certification,” wrote a coworker. “He works hard every day to keep patient safety the priority.”
Hong Zhao, Nurse Practitioner, was nominated for her kindness, resilience and leadership skills. “Hong ‘owns’ the IV situation at night,” wrote a coworker. “She is often called to help the nursing staff start the difficult IVs. I always hear how wonderful she is to nurses and patients.”
Stacie Stewart, Ultrasound Team Lead, was recognized for treating everyone with patience and respect. “Stacie exceeds expectations by assuming responsibility for arranging her patients’ care, and she treats her colleagues with humility and empathy,” her coworker explained.
Michael Parkinson, Occupational Therapist, was awarded for his willingness to go above and beyond for his patients. “He worked closely with my doctor to discuss my treatment plan and always included me in the discussion,” his patient wrote. “He also designed and crafted an orthosis for me.”
Marie Charpentier, Athletic Training & Physical Therapy Residency Coordinator, was nominated for her dedication to excellence and leadership. “She has been the main force in creating one of the only athletic training residencies in the nation,” wrote her coworker. “She is helping to elevate care in the community and around the world, and that is leading medicine.”
Robin Smith, RN III on Brazos 5, was honored for being a role model to her fellow nurses. “She shows respect to all patients and families, and takes patients’ culture into account when providing care,” wrote her coworker. “I would say Robin is the best in the world at what she does.”
