
The HMSL Employee Activities Committee (EAC) is a committee made up of employees for all areas of the hospital. This committee is in charge of planning and executing employee events such as the Chili Cook-off, Hospital Week, Pumpkin Contest, the Holiday Party and more. Being on this committee is a time commitment but is a great way to get involved and meet co-workers outside of your department.
The HMSL EAC structure consists of a total of 15 members which includes the following:
- 1 Committee Chair (Sahar Ali) and 1 Vice Chair
- 3 standing members from Marketing (Selina Garcia), Spiritual Care & Values Integration (Shawn Bowman), and HR & Volunteer Services (Janice Murdock)
- 10 annually rotating members that represent the following departments:
- Nursing- 4 members
- Ancillary Support- 3 members
- Administrative Support- 3 members
- Physician Organization- 1 member
Commitment:
The term for an EAC member is one calendar year (Jan. – Dec.). The EAC meets monthly and is responsible for planning and coordinating events throughout the year, which entails a commitment of a few hours each month.
Membership Expectations:
- The nominee must have the support of his or her immediate supervisor
- One year of active employment at a Houston Methodist facility
- No disciplinary action within the last year of employment, including attendance non-compliance
- I CARE role model
