JULY 13, 2022 —The Employee Morale Committee awarded Shelby Jacobs, an athletic trainer, with the Above and Beyond Award for the month of June. She was nominated after she was able to revive a student-athlete after collapsing during his athletic period at Boling High School. Here’s what the nomination read:
“By quickly noticing the Boling High School student had collapsed, you accelerated in getting him critical care and stabilized him back into a normal rhythm. Your quick thinking gave this boy a positive outcome, all because of your clinical acumen. We are blessed to have you caring for our patients and watching over these athletes. Great work, Shelby!”

Nominations for the Above and Beyond Award can be submitted two ways:
- Bravo: The committee regularly monitors the Bravo system for employees who have gone “above and beyond.”
- Email: You can email your submission to HMSLEmployeeMoraleCommittee@houstonmethodist.org. That will be received by the entire committed for consideration.
