There are several Employee Resource Group (ERG) events in the month of June. ERGs are employee-created and led, voluntary groups that join together based on common interests, backgrounds or demographics to help create a diverse and inclusive workplace.

- Women in Academic Medicine presented by Women’s Empowerment Alliance. Join us for a panel discussion with Houston Methodist female physician leaders. We will spend the hour with the panelists as they share their experiences and discuss the journey and challenges that led them to their current roles. - Celebrating Father’s Day with Dr. Marc Boom presented by Fathers in Health Care. Join us for a virtual discussion with Dr. Boom as he talks about his career journey and his experiences in balancing his responsibilities as a health care executive and his duties as a father. Click HERE to register.
- Monday, June 19th 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
- Juneteenth Celebration hosted by Black Ties For Culture. All employees are welcome to celebrate Juneteenth with the Black Ties for Culture ERG. You can participate in-person at HMRI Bookout Auditorium or tune in via Zoom. The program will feature outreach organizations made by and to uplift the black community, giveaways, snacks and more. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Texas were freed, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. - Asian LGBTQ+ intersectionality | Please join Asian Heritage ERG as we celebrate Pride Month during a virtual fireside chat with Dr. Bish Paul on Asian LGBTQ+ intersectionality. Dr. Paul is a scientist, civil-rights advocate and policymaker, who has dedicated his career to advancing equity and social justice. He currently serves as the policy lead for the Washington State Initiative at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he invests in quality early learning, K-12, and postsecondary programs and policies in both public and charter schools.
