Leadership Announcements

I am pleased to announce that Dr. S. Nicholas Desai has accepted the role of Chief Quality & Medical Officer at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, effective March 15.

Dr. Desai has been a valued member of the HMSL Medical Staff for more than 13 years and maintains his clinical practice here on campus. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Information Officer for the Houston Methodist system.

Dr. Desai is a board-certified podiatrist and tenured health care executive with experience in large-scale integrated delivery networks. In addition to leading our clinical implementation across the enterprise, he has a keen focus on clinical transformation, quality, efficiency, technology, innovation, experience, physician advocacy and financial stewardship. He recently was selected to the inaugural class of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Innovators in US Healthcare.

In his new role, Dr. Desai will lead the Quality and Medical Staff Departments. He will also continue to lead innovation efforts across the system, working directly with the Houston Methodist Center for Innovation and provide executive leadership to the Houston Methodist Epic Community Connect for private physicians. Luis Garcia, director of operations, will remain over Imaging & Diagnostic Services and Food and Nutrition Services.

I have no doubt that his interest and experience in improving the delivery of health care – through both innovative technology and human development – will be a huge benefit to Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

I am also pleased to announce that Leena Taneja has been promoted to Director of Business Development and Hospital Operations, effective immediately. Over the past 14 years, Leena has been instrumental in the growth and success of our hospital. Her leadership and commitment have helped us achieve and maintain prominence in the competitive Fort Bend marketplace.

In her new role, Leena will lead service line development and growth and support the senior leadership team with the development of strategic initiatives to improve our position in the marketplace. Leena will retain responsibility for physician recruitment, business development and internal communications, with a particular emphasis on engaging our employees and physicians. Marketing inquires should go to Kaelyn Bujnoch, marketing manager.

Please join me in extending congratulations to Leena as she enters this next phase of her leadership journey.

Chris Siebenaler
Regional Senior Vice President and CEO
