March 25, 2019: Next Monday, April 1, 2019, all of our HMSL employees, physicians, and volunteers are invited to participate in a 21-day Benefit Mindset Challenge. The challenge objective is to increase random acts of kindness that promote a benefit mindset where everyday leaders seek to do well and be good.
Here’s how it works; for 21 days, practice a small act of everyday leadership and kindness by performing a unique act of kindness. The only catch with the challenge is that each day the chosen act of kindness must be something new – no repeats!
The first week, people typically act in familiar ways that aren’t too disruptive and outside their comfort zone. During the second week, the actions get harder as everyone seeks to try new things. By the third week, signs of creativity and innovation abound as each of us are challenged to discover new capacities and potential we didn’t know we had within us.
Here’s the fun part – if all 3,000 HMSL employees performed a unique act of kindness for 21 days that would equal 63,000 acts of kindness! I can only imagine what the environment will be like!
The Magnet Champions, Employee Activity Committee members, and Workplace Environment Council members will distribute a tool kit before March 29th to each unit and department at HMSL. Your unit/department leader will give you a calendar to record your random acts of kindness.
On April 24th we will celebrate with day shift and night shift and share what we’ve learned! I am looking forward to hearing what a difference your kindness makes to others.
