October 29, 2018 – Magnet on our minds
Last week 20 of our HMSL employees attended the 2018 Magnet Conference in Denver, Colorado. The Conference theme was educate, innovate, and celebrate. Cy Wakeman, MS, CSP, shared her philosophy on how a leader can turn an unhappy workforce into an accountable, successful team. Patch Adams, M.D., a medical doctor and social activist discussed living a life of joy and how bringing joy into care can help prevent burnout. Finally, Aron Ralston shared how his unimaginable challenge and life-or-death decision to sever his lower arm from his body so he could escape being trapped in a mountain crevasse helped him understand what it means to overcome surmountable odds.
The conference attendees will share what they learned over the next few weeks. I hope their experiences will educate, inspire you to innovate and celebrate.

Definitely another great Magnet experience. The concurrent sessions were varied and educational. Ron Malit & Paschale Dorismund-Park’s presentation on aromatherapy for PONV was impressive & was very well attended. the posters on Preventing AKI from the Cath Lab Team certainly drew in a crowd, as did the poster on C-Diff.
