August 31, 2020 – Malcolm Gladwell inspires me. When I read his book, Outliers, it changed the way I viewed work and opportunity.
Work is hard and hard work is what prepares us to run through the door of opportunity. Here are some of my favorite quotes from this book:
- “Achievement is talent plus preparation.”
- “Success is a function of persistence and doggedness and the willingness to work hard for twenty-two minutes to make sense of something that most people would give up on after thirty seconds.”
- “The values of the world we inhabit and the people we surround ourselves with have a profound effect on who we are.”
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the quotes from some of the people that inspire me. I think it would be a wonderful dinner party if Mother Teresa sat next to Winston Churchill, who sat across from Martin Luther King and Malcolm Gladwell, while Florence Nightingale presided at the head of the table.
