April 15, 2019 – We are entering the last week of our Operation Kindness challenge and you all have done amazing work caring for each other, our patients and guests. This week I challenge you to consider being kind to yourself. Self-care is important because we cannot fill another person’s tank when our own tanks are empty. Here are some great tips on being kind to yourself:
- Drink more water
- Keep a gratitude journal to help focus on what you are grateful for
- Try new things, e.g. walk in a new park, try a yoga class, shop at a new grocery store, take a foreign language class, join a sports team, meet your neighbors
- Be mindful about moving every hour, especially if you sit at a desk or are in meetings all day
- Volunteer
- Take a break from technology
- Listen to inspiring music
- Eat breakfast
- Get enough sleep
- Pet a dog
- Talk to a child
- Engage in meaningful conversations
