February 4, 2019 – Ownership is the fourth and final principle of shared governance. Joe Tye describes in his book, The Florence Prescription, the eight characteristics of ownership:
- Commitment to the organization’s mission, vision & values;
- Engagement through being fully present, physically & emotionally;
- Passion – loving your work and letting it show;
- Initiative – seeing what needs to be done and taking action;
- Stewardship – effectively managing limited resources;
- Belonging – a place where everyone is included;
- Fellowship – being a friend and having friends at work; and
- Pride – in my profession, my hospital, my work, and myself
All of us have daily opportunities to display the eight characteristics of ownership. I’d like to invite each one of you to come and find out how you can be engaged in helping make Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital the best place for our patient’s to receive care
February 7, 2019, the twelve HMSL Shared Governance Councils will host a booth in the Brazos Lobby, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come learn from our front line staff about the 2018 accomplishments and 2019 goals. You can also sign up to join a council.
Another way to be involved is to collect gently used or new clothing for our partners at Access Health. Access Health will distribute the clothing to our community members in need. Bring the clothing to the Shared Governance Fair.
Below are the HMSL Shared Governance Councils, meeting times, mentors, and staff chair and co-chairs:
