Part of our #maskup campaign is making sure you feel empowered to remind someone to wear a mask and instruct them on wearing it properly. Here are some tools should you need them.
Houston Methodist requires all patients and visitors to wear a mask at all times while in any of our facilities. Masks will be given to those without one at screening stations. If you run into someone within our campus without a mask, you may also direct or escort them to a screening station where one will be provided.
Should you run into someone that does not wish to comply with this request, please feel free to call security at 281.274.7112.
Sally Shen, our ACNO, made a great how-to video on donning a mask. Remember it needs to cover both your nose and mouth to be considered being properly worn.
Gov. Greg Abbott also issued a statewide mask mandate that went into effect on July 3, which includes Fort Bend County. That mandate states:
Every person in Texas shall wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when inside a commercial entity or other building or space open to the public, or when in an outdoor public space, wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household; provided, however, that this face-covering requirement does not apply to these exceptions.
Following a verbal or written warning for a first-time violator of this facecovering requirement, a person’s second violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250. Each subsequent violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 per violation.
