May 20, 2022 — The Employee Morale Committee awarded Surgical ICU Nurse Nicole “Nicki” Olmstead with the Above and Beyond Award for the month of May. She was nominated after coordinating a personal pet visit for a patient in SICU. Here’s what the nomination read:
“Nicki led a group of interprofessional employees in executing a personal pet visit for a patient in the SICU. Not only did she make it happen, but she came in on her day off to see it through. She even gifted the patient a framed photo of the animal. It was an experience that the patient’s husband said was just the motivation and encouragement she needed in her healing. It was truly an above and beyond moment.”

Nominations for the Above and Beyond Award can be submitted two ways:
- Bravo. The committee regularly monitors the Bravo system for employees who have gone Above and Beyond.
- Email. You can email you submission to HMSLEmployeeMoraleCommittee@houstonmethodist.org. That will be received by the entire committed for consideration.
