Making time to have a visit with a behavioral health provider can be a challenge, especially when you consider travel time and fitting into the provider’s schedule. But now through Virtual Behavioral Health in the MyMethodist App, we’re making it easier for you to schedule a virtual appointment. The app allows you to search for providers who are available on the day of your choice with counselors and psychologists who will meet with you through the app. Appointments last 45 minutes and available times vary, but many providers offer evening and weekend sessions.
You can set recurring appointments with the same provider, just as you would with a traditional behavioral health provider. Providers who treat children over the age of 10 have a special banner on their picture in the app.
Houston Methodist employees and their family members insured by the Houston Methodist Medical Plan will pay $20 for behavioral health visits versus the regular of $80 – $95 offered to all consumers.
Access is simple. Download the MyMethodist App from the app store, if you haven’t already. Please note that if you have previously used the app, you will need to update the app to see this new feature. This new benefit is an additional network of providers for mental health within our Houston Methodist employee medical plan. This benefit, at this time, is not part of our EAP benefits. Taking care or your health includes your mental health, so we’re pleased to make it easier for you to talk to someone when you go through difficult times in your life.
The MyMethodist App has an additional feature for nutrition counseling, but this option is not subsidized by the Houston Methodist employee medical plan nor is it part of our HealthyDirections program. Nutrition consultations are available at no cost through Houston Methodist Wellness, Click HERE to learn more.
