The 4th Annual System Quality and Patient Safety Awards took place on Oct. 30, 2018 at the Texas Medical Center Marriott Hotel. The purpose of the Awards ceremony is to honor and showcase the work of physicians and staff who are partnering with the quality leadership and teams from across the system on the Houston Methodist journey to unparalleled excellence in safety and quality. Awards are granted based on outcomes/performance and other awards are peer nominated. This year we received 452 total nominations, over 100 more nominations from 2017. Of the 452 nominations received, 303 were for individual and 149 were for teams. The top 7% were recognized at the awards ceremony – 27 individuals and 34 teams/units/departments. Those awarded represented all of our 8 system hospitals, plus the Physician Organization, HM Coordinated Care, and HM Global Health Care Services.
