SEPTEMBER 15, 2022 — The Employee Morale Committee awarded Mary “Grace” Ladiao, an RN in Brazos, with the Above and Beyond Award for the month of September. She was nominated for her intentional, compassionate care with a patient and their family. They were so touched by her care, they wrote a letter to the hospital about her and it made it’s way to the committee. Click here to read her nomination and learn more about how to nominate your colleagues. Here’s what the nomination read:
“Your genuine care and compassion for our patients is the perfect example of what HMSL strives for. Mary was very compassionate in asking if there was anything else, she could do to make the patient more comfortable and was especially attentive, demonstrating outstanding listening skills, along with assisting the family with arrangements for discharge of their mother. This is what HMSL is all about and we are so blessed to have you caring for our patients.”
Below is the letter from the patient, with details edited for privacy:
Dear Employee Recognition Department:
The purpose of this letter is to commend RN Mary Ladiao for outstanding service while my 92- year-old mother was in your hospital.
RN Mary Ladiao is commended for her exemplary service and commitment to excellence in not only providing her normal RN services very well, but also demonstrating a genuine care for patients and family visiting the hospital.
RN Mary Ladiao was very compassionate in asking if there was anything else she could do to make my mother comfortable. She was also especially attentive, demonstrating outstanding listening skills. Finally, she was most helpful with assisting us with arrangements for discharge of my mother. While my experience with all your staff at Houston Methodist was good, my experience with RN Mary Ladiao was exemplary, and thus she is recommended as a role model for RNs at Houston Methodist.
