As Dr. Phillips stated in a previous communication, it is important that we stay healthy for our families and for our city as we will need to care for the sickest in our community.
We have a major advantage that all of our employees are vaccinated, and we are better able to safely care for patients. At least 50 hospital systems have followed our lead—and now all the major medical associations. See that statement here.
What else can you do?
- For the next few weeks, please start wearing your mask religiously. Please wear a mask when in public places at work, while having lunch (when not eating) with coworkers and when you are in public in your personal life.
- Please limit in-person meetings for the next few weeks. And if you must have one, please be sure to socially distance and always wear a mask during the meeting. Also, please avoid extended meetings as this increases the risk for exposure if someone in attendance is asymptomatically infected.
- Strongly remind patients and visitors they are required to wear masks while in our hospitals, and if they refuse then escalate to leadership for enforcement.
- Keep influencing friends, family and neighbors to get vaccinated.
- If you need some help dealing with your emotions, or just want to someone to talk to about this surge, we have many resources that can be reached here.
Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
